Honest comparison

MyGig vs Hays

Hays is a recruitment and staffing company. MyGig is a Workforce-as-a-Service platform. That is the whole comparison in two sentences, and the rest of this page is the detail. Hays describes itself as a specialist recruitment agency, listing permanent recruitment and temporary and contract recruitment among the services it offers employers, and it runs Logistics and Trades and Labour desks alongside its professional ones, so the two overlap on warehouse and industrial temp work. Where they differ is delivery: a recruiter takes your brief and places a person, while MyGig gives you software to post a shift, choose the worker and see the itemised cost up front, then employs and pays that worker as the authorised Employer of Record, operating in NSW, WA, TAS and NT, on a flat 15% service fee. Choose Hays when you need recruitment expertise. Choose MyGig when you need workforce infrastructure.

What this compares: the recruitment agency model that Hays operates in, where a recruiter finds and places the person, compared with how MyGig works. It is not a comparison of Hays' own rates or terms: we did not locate a published Hays rate card when this page was checked in September 2026, so ask Hays for a quote and bring ours alongside.

The honest verdict

Where each one wins.

Where Hays wins

  • Permanent and specialist recruitment. Hays describes itself as a specialist recruitment agency and lists permanent recruitment alongside temporary and contract recruitment among its employer services (source 1 below). MyGig does not place permanent staff at all.
  • Recruiter-led placements that run for months. Hays' own temporary and contract recruitment page says Hays handles the contracts, onboarding and payroll processing for those workers (source 4). If you want a consultant to manage a six-month contractor, that is their product; MyGig books shifts.
  • Enterprise programs and reach. Hays markets RPO, MSP and contractor management to employers (source 5), and a national agency network covers the states where MyGig is not yet the authorised Employer of Record. Hays also runs Logistics and Trades and Labour desks (sources 2 and 3), so it is not a white-collar-only choice.

Choose Hays when you need recruitment expertise: a permanent hire, a specialist or professional search, a contractor placed for months, or an RPO or MSP program run by a recruiter.

Where MyGig wins

  • Self-service and speed. Post a shift in about 60 seconds and pick the worker from profiles, ratings and verified tickets, with no brief, no consultant loop and no waiting on a shortlist.
  • A published number. One flat 15% service fee on wages and on-costs, itemised on the estimate before you book, the same whether you book one shift or five hundred.
  • Employment, award interpretation and payroll in one place. MyGig employs the worker as authorised Employer of Record in NSW, WA, TAS and NT, evidences the award rate per hour, and lodges Single Touch Payroll from its own payroll system.
  • Workers are paid the day after every shift with 12% super, at no cost to them, which is the mechanism behind reliable show-up rates.

Choose MyGig when you need workforce infrastructure: casual frontline shifts in NSW, WA, TAS or NT, booked yourself, priced at a published flat 15%, with every worker employed, award-checked and paid the next day by MyGig.
