Honest comparison

MyGig vs WorkPac

This one is worth being blunt about, because for a lot of readers the answer is not MyGig. WorkPac is an Australian labour hire provider best known in resources and heavy construction, and MyGig does not staff that work: no FIFO, no mine sites, no heavy civil. If that is your requirement, stop here and go with a resources specialist. The comparison only becomes useful for general casual frontline labour, warehousing, events, retail, hospitality and cleaning, where the question is whether you want a contracted bill rate or a published flat 15% with the cost itemised per shift.

What this compares: the traditional labour hire model that providers including WorkPac operate in, compared with how MyGig works. It is not a comparison of WorkPac's own rates or terms, which are arranged per client and are not published.

The honest verdict

Where each one wins.

Where WorkPac wins

  • Resources and heavy construction. MyGig has no pool, no tickets and no experience in FIFO or mine site work, and would not pretend otherwise.
  • Long-duration site placements with rosters measured in swings rather than shifts are built for the contracted model, not for shift booking.
  • Coverage in states and remote regions where MyGig is not the authorised Employer of Record.

Choose a resources specialist for mining, FIFO and heavy construction. That is their market and it is genuinely not ours.

Where MyGig wins

  • For general casual labour, a published 15% is a number you can plan against without a negotiation.
  • Cost is estimated for the exact date and time before you commit, penalties included.
  • You select the individual worker rather than receiving an allocation.
  • Daily pay with 12% super, which is a meaningful difference to workers on a weekly or fortnightly cycle.

Choose MyGig for general casual frontline shifts in NSW, WA, TAS or NT where transparent per-shift cost and self-serve booking are what matter.
